Adopted: June 2025
At the Kentucky Emergency Services Conference (KESC), we are committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment where all participants feel safe, heard, and valued. To uphold this commitment, KESC has adopted the RESPECT Policy, which outlines our shared expectations for behavior and conduct during all aspects of the conference.
The RESPECT Policy is built around seven core principles:
All participants are expected to act responsibly and with integrity. This includes respecting conference guidelines, event staff, facility rules, and one another at all times.
KESC is a professional environment that thrives on participation and dialogue. We encourage all attendees to engage thoughtfully, ask questions, and contribute to discussions in a way that is constructive and inclusive.
Creating a physically and emotionally safe environment is essential. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or any form of threatening behavior will not be tolerated.
We expect professionalism in all interactions—verbal, written, and non-verbal. This includes maintaining civil discourse, avoiding inappropriate language or conduct, and respecting boundaries.
We are committed to equity and access. Everyone deserves an equal opportunity to learn, collaborate, and network—regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, veteran status, or background.
Extend empathy and kindness. Emergencies and disasters require human-centered leadership, and this conference is a reflection of the values we carry into our work.
Build trust through honesty, confidentiality, and ethical behavior. Trust is essential for collaboration across disciplines and communities.
Harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind
Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
Use of slurs, offensive jokes, or inappropriate language

All reports will be handled discreetly and appropriately. KESC reserves the right to take corrective action, up to and including removal from the event without refund.
By attending KESC, you agree to uphold the RESPECT Policy and contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all. Together, we can build a conference experience that reflects the highest values of Kentucky’s emergency services community.
